You know, I got to thinking today. I was listening to Mike Gallagher this morning, talking about Tony Snow and his recurrence of cancer. He brought up the fact that there are so many insulting blogs about him on sites such as the Huffington Post, hoping that he dies, and calling the cancer a human, and Tony Snow the cancer. Mike raised the question of why you don't particularly see this type of thing as much on conservative blogs, and considering myself a liberal at one time, I figured who better than to put a little piece out there.
Here's a little piece from a liberal site, The Huffington Post:
"This pungent discovery got me pondering a post on how conservative opposition to global warming advocacy seems openly and bizarrely centered on hatred of liberals and environmentalists and Al Gore rather than, say, any substantive take on the issue itself. It is perhaps the clearest example of how modern conservatism descended into pure ressentiment." - David Roberts
That couldn't be more true, except, the complete opposite of what he just said, and with resentment spelled correctly.
The left just doesn't have any real substance. There I said it. The only substance they really have is that whatever the right is doing is wrong, and anything that goes wrong is the fault of conservatives and Republicans.
What does the left have? Al Gore, an inconvenient truth, Clinton's amazing presidency... yeah. There seems to be a consensus with the new left that "everyone knows" that humans are causing a catastrophic climate change, and it will destroy the earth, and George Bush should be impeached. "Everyone knows" where the woes of the world are originating. The truth is, all of that is a bunch of blown-up nonsense. Even if it wasn't, let's consider this. Let's consider all of that is true. Then why isn't anyone doing anything about it? Why haven't the "overwhelming majority" of Americans done something about it? Why are the Democrats (whom I gave votes to) sitting in Congress passing non-binding resolutions and committing the same ethical mishaps that they so detested the Republicans for? I thought for a while that Democrats and the left turned their back on me, but then I realized the left is just a cold, empty place. There's no rational arguments, only bitterness and spitefulness. The Democrats especially, are a pathetic bunch.
Now let's get to war protests, something also pervasive with the new left. You know what the overwhelming majority of people are at those protests? Socialists & communists. They tote posters of Che Guevara, and march with signs that read "Capitalism = war." This "peace movement" is by no means peaceful. "Smash capitalism," "the only solution: Revolution," doesn't sound peaceful to me. The chief sponsor of these antiwar protests is ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism). That sounds all fine and good other than the fact that ANSWER supports Iran, Hezbollah, and any nation that is remotely anti-American.
It's also very ironic that so many liberals seem to hate capitalism,
poverty and greed, meanwhile its champions, hollywood bigshots, make
millions off of the free market economy for acting in movies, or just
for being the offspring of a rich entrepreneur. And of course they
would never give up their laptop, cell phone, blackberry, side kick, or
ipod. And we all know we would have all of those things if the U.S.
would have just gone socialist a long time ago.... right?
Meanwhile, many prominent news sources mentioned it as a general anti-war protest and mentioned signs that read "U.S. out of Iraq" and "Impeach Bush." A mysterious absence of American flags at the protest seems to be no accident. I'm not demonizing socialists, but REALIZE who is taking part in and sponsoring these protests, and REALIZE exactly what it is that they are advocating, then make up your mind.
So I pose some questions here.
Is terrorism and radicalism the biggest threat to America today? Or is it the "New American Imperialism" and our sinful SUVs?
Is the American flag worth waving? Or would we rather wave something with the image of Che Guevara, and trash the Constitution of the United States?
Should we wish death upon those who we disagree with? Or should we use rational arguments to debate and move forward to an answer to some pressing problems?
